Welcome Kelly Baker to ATC
The Albany Tennis Club Board of Directors is excited to announce that Kelly Baker will be joining ATC as our new Club Manager and Racquet Sports Pro!
Kelly comes to us from Colorado Springs, where he directed the racquet sports program at Flying Horse Club/Resort. He has taught nationwide including locally in Eugene and Ashland.
Kelly has been teaching tennis since his high school days as a parks and recreation instructor, becoming certified by the USPTA in 1988. As a player, he was a nationally ranked JUCO tennis player and played a year of D-1 tennis at the University of Texas-El Paso, garnering all-WAC academic honors before embarking on his teaching career. Kelly still loves to compete and played on two sectional qualifying teams in 2023 at the 4.5 men and 9.5 mixed levels.
Kelly prides himself on being adaptable to any level of player. He gives relatable, common sense corrections and provides players with “extra tools” in their tool box to call upon when competing.
Kelly also is passionate about Pickleball. He has run numerous pickleball round robins and tournaments and plays frequently! He is certified as a pickleball professional through the USPTA.
Kelly’s wife, Roan, is also a tennis instructor. The pair have taught together at clubs across the country. Roan is at heart an Artist and horse trainer, having spent years training horses for the mounted division in New Orleans where Kelly and Roan met in 2002. Her passion for helping others live longer, healthier lives through racquet sports is off the charts.
Kelly will be officially starting in the ATC office on February 1st.
Please stop by and say hello!
