Covid-19 Impacts and Outdoor Court Availability
January 12 Update. Linn County will be in the “extreme risk” category through the end of the month. It is hoped that a lower risk category will be assigned in at the end of the month and we will be able to open the indoor courts. In the meantime, club access is limited to the outdoor courts.
As a result of the statewide “freeze”, the club will remain closed through Wednesday, Dec. 2. Starting December 3, the state begins new county based Covid-19 risk assessments. At this time, Linn County is in the “Extreme Risk” category and the club must remain closed. However, it has been confirmed with Linn County that we will be able to open the (lighted) outdoor courts for tennis and pickleball starting on the 3rd.
Weather permitting, of course, tennis will be available on outdoor courts 4 and 5 (closest to the pool). Pickleball will be available on courts 6 and 7. As was the case in May, access to the outdoor courts will be through the locked gate along 27th street between courts 5 and 6. The combination to the lock will be on the court reservations page. There will be no access to the indoor facility until further notice. Face masks will not be required on the outdoor courts, however all of the now-usual covid-19 safety protocol must be followed.
Darryl will be moving his junior program to the outdoor courts beginning Dec. 3. Same programs, same times, as well as private lessons. If you want to up your game, playing outdoors in December is just what you need! We will offer the regular open doubles tennis and pickleball group events on the outdoor courts. All players and guests must register online for all events and court time.
County risk assessments will be made on a regular basis and it is hoped that Linn County’s status will improve and indoor play will be allowed in the near future. We are closely monitoring the situation and will open just as soon we safely can. Please contact Darryl in the office with any questions or concerns. Time to bundle up and pray for some dry December weather — and an end to this lousy pandemic.
