Web Site
Major kudos to
Dale Burrows for the new look to the ATC Web Site. It is up and running. Check it out at albanytennisclub.org. The domain name is under a two-year contract
at about $8/month under Sheila’s name. Dale
will be adding a gallery page. The
“prospective member” pages for trial and summer memberships need updating. Laura will retype the pages and e-mail it to
Dale. A suggestion was made to put a
sign downstairs to check out the “new” Web site.
Member Business
Carl Love made
several suggestions:
1.
Have
ATC buy Tim a subscription to Racquet Stringers Association. Tim said that he doesn’t need this. If his business was primarily racquet
stringing, he could see the value.
2.
The
light panels at the ends of courts 1 and 2 cause glare, can they be
redirected? The Board did not feel any
action was needed at this time.
Pro/Manager
Laura reported
that Tim was not at tonight’s meeting because he had made a commitment some
time ago to help run a tennis camp at Illahe
(tonight), then playing in an exhibition match afterwards. The camp featured Luke Jensen. In the future, this camp will be rotated
among the tennis clubs in the area due to the large
turnout.

Senior and Super Senior leagues are now forming. There are
information flyers located around the club.
Dick is forming a Senior and Super Senior men’s team and a Senior 4.0
Women’s team has been formed.
The high school
rules and regulations are being revised.
Finance
Tom reported the
statements are still not in the new format.
Income: $70,742
Expenses: 56,140
Net income: $14,602
The current Edward Jones
account: $32,790 (as of 6-17-2008)
Cash: 21,697
Total current assets: $54,487
Tom will bring
the year-to-date Edward Jones information to the next Board meeting.
Mortgage Update
Tom has come up
with several options for refinancing ATC’s mortgage, roughly at $160,000,
through Umpqua Bank:
1.
At
8% (what we are at currently), if ATC finished paying off the mortgage by 2015,
how much would the monthly cost be?
$2,576/month.
2.
If
we can get a lower rate, 6.5%, amortize to our current debt and pay off by
2015, how much would it cost? $2,452/month.
3.
Go
to someone else completely new.
4.
At
6.5%, paying $1,800/month (current payment) the mortgage would be paid off by
April 2019. If we add $20,000 to this,
the mortgage would be paid by April 2021.
Adding $20,000 would allow ATC to do one of 2 projects;
o
Resurface
the pool
o
Resurface
the outdoor courts
Tim would need to update the bids to
resurface the pool and outdoor courts.
A motion was
made, seconded, and passed to approve option 4.
Grounds/Maintenance
Tim is having a
pool/outdoor court sign made for signing in.
Greg will be
getting bids to have a licensed surveyor survey the club property lines.
The BPA’s Urban Forester, working with the City’s Urban
Forester, will be planting “compatible trees” to replace the ones they took out
along the parking lot.
The upstairs
tiling should be completed within one week.
Tim is waiting
to hear back from Bob Schueller regarding the cost of light sensors. GE will also come out and give a quote.
Keyless lock
entry: Tim and Laura are to meet with
John Bell regarding his proposal and to find out whether or not he is still
interested and whether or not his proposal includes connection to Tim’s
computer. If he is still interested,
then the proposal needs to be revised to include all the costs including the
labor. If after the meeting with John
that this isn’t a viable option, a motion was made, seconded, and passed to go
with Albany Lock and Key.
Tom and Greg
have built six new stools for the pool area that need to be painted. Other outside benches and tables also need
painting.
Dick discovered
a mess in the men’s restroom caused by a plugged toilet. The “plug” had been
removed from the toilet and placed on the floor for someone to clean up. Who is responsible for making sure the
restrooms are clean? The lifeguards
should be cleaning the restrooms, but this could have happened after hours.
Bill Clotier has marked the broken spots in the drip
system. Tom will talk to Bill about
helping fix the system.
Swim Committee
Dale gave Tim 20
updated summer membership booklets.
The pool
officially opened Memorial Day. There
were several problems: the pool water
was too cold and the chlorine level was too low per Brianna. Fortunately, it was too cold a day for
swimming.
Tim is looking
for new windscreens through the
Dale will check
and see if covering the pool at the end of the day is on the lifeguards list of
things to do. The garbage around the
pool area also needs to be cleaned up every night.
Dale said that
he is planning to schedule a cleanup/maintenance day within the next month and
will e-mail the Board of the date and time.
The next Board
meeting will be July 15.
Laura adjourned
the meeting at 9:02 pm.
