Annual Meeting

December 17, 2009

Board Members Present:  Laura Hyde, Greg Fortier, Jason Hedding, Tom Cutsforth, Dale Burrows, Dick Juntunen, and Carol Wood

New (as of 1-1-2010) Board Members Present:  Terry Wood, Ron Reimers, Paul Snyder, Candice Elliott, and Andrew Koll

Board Member Absent:  Louis Weinstein

Club Manager/Tennis Director:  Len Spencer

ATC Staff:  Candice Elliott

President Laura Hyde called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm. 

Manager Report: Len

·        154 members; Len’s goal is to increase membership

·        Security cameras are up on courts 1 and 2 with more to be put in

·        Pool has been winterized

·        New grounds maintenance/landscaper has done a great job

·        Gutters have been cleaned

·        Candice is doing a great job cleaning

·        Rivets in the roof have been sealed; the water on the courts is actually condensation

·        New statements are out

·        People coming in to check lights to see if we can save money with a new system

Tennis Program:  Len

·        Juniors:  goal is 70; at 42 now

·        Len will start hitting the schools in January first to promote tennis with grade schools

·        Salem STC, Timberhill, and ATC are meeting to start junior exchanges

·        5 tournaments in 2010

Finance:  Tom

·        The new monthly reports are on track with the new accounting system

·        The Club was at “breakeven” for the first 10 months of the year which is normal

·        There may be an 8-10 percent loss that shows at the end of the year due to some challenges in 2009 such as the pool problems

·        In answer to a members question:  The Board chose to have a verbal finance report for the annual meeting instead of a written one since we are changing to a new report

·        In answer to a members question:  The Bylaws provide for a written ballot by mail for Board nominees

Pool:  Jason

·        As reported earlier, the pool has been winterized

·        2 broken pipes have been repaired:  one at the outdoor shower (PVC) and the other in the pool room where a spigot had blown

·        There were water clarity issues all summer; these have been taken care of

·        The pool has been replastered, new lights and ladders have been installed, and the steps have been secured

·        Several leaks in the skimmers have been fixed

·        We will begin “startup” in the new year with a pool manual in place

·        Summer members have been reimbursed for the days the pool was closed due to water clarity issues

·        Candice will become the Aquatics Director in February 2010 and will be in charge of the pool

·        ‘All pool staff will be Red Cross certified

·        There are plans for new pool furniture

Social:  Dale

·        Social Committee members:  The Kolls, Elliotts, Burrows, and Judy Scott

·        Club newsletter will be distributed by e-mail soon

Other news from Dale: 

·        The club security system will go on the Web site with live pictures

·        A subcommittee is working on a new court reservation system that will hopefully provide a fairer system

Thanks to Dale for initiating the Social Committee and for his Web site management.

 

 

Pictures from Len’s “turkey” tournaments were great.

Terry would like the new Board members to have copies of the financial statements and Bylaws for review.
